Port Aransas TX

We decided a week or so ago to use the kids Monday off to go to the Texas beach in Port Aransas. We didn't hear great things about the beach and had been told that the water wasn't great, but it was awesome. We were able to get a last minute deal on a nice beach home for the weekend to share with family.

The kids played and played on the beach. I'm not sure why, but M. was trying to tackle K. in the
The Water was refreshing clean and clear. The big kids loved to play in the sand and in the waves.

They had a great time with their younger cousin from Houston, and even the babies seemed to really enjoy the water and sand.

Back at the house, S thought it was a real treat to have Sprite. He even asked if he could have it for breakfast. He caught me taking the photo below and said "Why didn't you tell me you were taking a picture so that I could look at you and smile." I don't think that an explanation is necessary...

Miss A. Found the collection of Harry Potter books at the house and started reading one of them for the third time.
The first night, M didn't want to go to bed while we were playing Settlers. She finally fell asleep on the couch.
One night we drove along the beach (sometimes we had to drive fast to not get stuck) We found a place to par
We had a very relaxing and short vacation. It was nice to have three days without phones, internet, TV, school and work. Maybe we'll do it again next year.

Netflix

We recently started watching some old TV shows on Netflix (it is cheaper than cable and we don't have to have the kids begging us for everything they see in commercials). One show that the kids really laugh at is the old Adams Family.

Daddy Daughter Campout

This October we had our ward's daddy-daughter campout at Palmetto State park. The weather was great and it was the first opportunity for my littlest girl to go camping. She has been talking about camping for so long, but didn't really know what it was except for fun.
After she sat with her feet in the fire ant pile, and after watching her dad start a fire, we cooked hot dogs and ate them before anyone else even arrived at the campground.

The river was great. We didn't fish, but I was amazed that my second daughter doesn't mind holding worms.

In the night. M told me "I want to go camping tomorrow." (note- she says damping instead of camping). I replied "We are camping! This is camping!" She kept arguing with me, "No we're not camping, this isn't camping daddy!" We argued for about 20 minutes before I could convince her that we were in fact already camping.

Playing

As the fall months continue it is finally cool enough to enjoy playing outside for everyone!
